In 1981 a group of Hawayo Takata's Reiki Masters got together in Lumbi, British Columbia, Canada to plan a memorial for Hawayo Takata and talked about the foundation of an Alliance of Reiki Masters. In the spring of 1982, a group of Reiki Masters gathered with Phyllis Lei Furumoto, Takata's granddaughter and also one her Reiki Masters, in Hawaii to honor the memory of Hawayo Takata and to share their experiences as Reiki Masters initiated by their teacher. They decided to meet annually. The second meeting in 1983 resulted in the formation of The Reiki Alliance. The intent of The Reiki Alliance is expressed in the Masters statement formulated and adopted at that Hawaii gathering:

We are an alliance of Reiki Masters.
We regard all Masters as equal in the oneness of Reiki.
We acknowledge Phyllis Lei Furumoto as the Grand Master in the direct spiritual lineage of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, and Hawayo Takata
The purpose of the Alliance is to support us as teachers in the Usui System of Natural Healing.

Emerald City Reiki Center e-mcity.org is an Usui Reiki Center offering Jikiden Shoden (1st degree) on two consecutive Sundays each month and Okuden (2nd degree) on one of the following Sundays each month. Upcoming Shoden classes on June 10 and 17, July 1 and 8 2018, July 29 and August 5 2018, August 19 and 26 2018, September 3 and 4 2018 (Labor Day weekend).The cost for Shoden is $350.00 USD.

Upcoming Okuden classes on June 24, July 22, August 12 and September 10 2018. The cost for Okuden is $400.00.
